Annapurna Sunrise

Pokhara is situatedclose to the Annapurna Himalayan Range. Most mornings you can see a wonderful sunrise from the nearby viewpoint Sarangkot, before the mountains cloud up later in the day. In the left side of the picture above you see the characteristic Mount Fishtail (6993 metres) just before the sun rises. However it is already lighting up the backside of the mountain and giving the clouds a nice red hue.

The sun rises from behind the hills.

Susanna and Mount Fishtail.

Me and the mountains.

And finally a view over the whole range and the valleys before it. It is just an amazing sight, and the closest I have gotten to the real Himalayan mountaintops yet.
