Boat Trip in Peryiar

One of the best ways to see Peryiar National Park is to take a boat ride on the lake in the centre of the Park. The wildlife is not as abuindant as in, say, Ranthambore, but one still gets some good sightings, and anyway the nature is quite pristine.

Here a typical landscape from the park. If you (VERY) closely, you can see a flock of wild elephants at the little bay formed by the shoreline.

Another set of elephants, this time a bit closer but inside a forest. Of course you do see many elephants when you travel in India, but it is a very different experience seeing them untamed, roaming around in the wild.

A couple of otters, trying to escape from the boat. One is on the shore, the other one can be seen swimming in the middle of the picture.

As can be seen here the nature surrounding the lake is quite beautiful.

Early morning on my second boat ride. Mist still hanging over the waters.

Nilgiri Langur monkey. Strictly speaking I didn't see it from the boat, but on my way back. With his white hair he looks like an old man. These monkeys are quite rare and can't be seen in Northern India. It is currently an endangered species.
